About the Book "Rituals, Orders and Rites in the Anglo-Saxon Masonic Space and Freemasonry in Bulgaria"

The backbone of the "World Freemasonry" section is the book "Rituals, Orders and Rites in the Anglo-Saxon Masonic Space and Freemasonry in Bulgaria" — third edition from 2012. This is a unique, in-depth work by a Bulgarian author examining the enormous diversity of Masonic structures, rituals, orders, and rites, tracing their roots and development. The book represents over 8 years of research by Mihail Dimitrov.

In the preface to the second edition (October 2008), the author describes Freemasonry as "an exceptionally branched system of structures, degrees, rituals, orders, and rites" and notes that "ritualism alone could be the subject of endless research."

The initiative came from Grand Master Brother Petio Penkov, originally conceived as a detailed paper on the Scottish Rite and "high degrees." The first version appeared in May 2005 (electronic format) and was first presented during a joint event of Lodge "Yaylata" and its twinned Romanian lodge from Constanța at the Kaliakra locality.

What began as a planned few-page paper grew into a monograph of over 100 pages, with the author noting he had only managed to "touch upon the most apparent" aspects describable in logical sequence and interconnection.

In 2008, the UGLB published a supplemented and expanded printed edition. In 2012, the third and (as of now) final edition was printed, further expanded with refined information and updated internet addresses of Masonic-themed websites.
